BS 65000 also gives guidance on how other standards contribute to the development and management of organisational resilience with a consistent good practice structure, using agreed terminology and practices relevant to the development and management of organisational resilience.
BS 65000 offers an approach to building organisational resilience through the development of fundamental attributes that go beyond what the organisation does and what it has. Theses attributes define the attitudes that shape decisions and actions, and ultimately underpin resilience.
At the centre of these attributes are foundations for building organisational resilience, which include:
Governance and accountability - ensuring that the organisation implements the systems, structures and processes that drive coherent decision making within acceptable parameters of cost, risk and speed.
Leadership and culture - ensuring that leaders consider the impact of all strategies, both at the time decisions are taken and on an ongoing basis; along with the development of culture which sees it as normal to consider resilience in decision making.
Common vision and purpose - ensuring that an organisation's purpose and vision is considered against the requirements for organisation resilience throughout such that challenge, change and opportunity are assessed accordingly.
BS 65000 takes the form of guidance and recommendations. It should not be quoted as a specification or code of practice and claims of compliance cannot be made of it. The BeResilient programme offers extended tools and guidance to the standard for organisations aiming to implement the provisions of the standard.
The BeResilient programme is specifically designed for organisations working within the construction sector and may not be suitable for organisations working in others sectors.
